All artists steal. The creative process can leave anyone at a loss, most of all musicians struggling against a mountain of records that expand in relation to each other. Some might be lucky enough to have dusty crates filled with great ideas, but only a few ever gain status as credible producers and remixers. While the details are usually kept out of sight, there is a beauty to the process that can't be hidden away: historicity finds itself grafted into the new evolution, and the song grows beyond its components and designers...
Soul evokes something peculiar in me. I'd call it sustained emotional feedback, glamour otherwise absent from my life. Or maybe a touch of hope? Beyond that, I feel that the majority of samplers who pull from soul music never leave any breadcrumbs behind. So I'll lead the way in their stead. If there's enough interest, I may put together some more volumes. Otherwise it'll be random themes following random themes...
A note about this mix: There's bits of funk and gospel in there, as well as a couple instrumental tracks. But you probably agree that music is fairly mutable stuff, right? Well...the heart beats regardless...
